Green Monastery is one of the oldest and most peaceful places near Borjomi. It stands in dense forest beside a river, creating a particularly intimate and spiritual setting.
The Green Monastery dates to the 9th–10th centuries. The active complex includes a church and bell tower; nearby monastic cells reflect its medieval history.
Local legend says traces of the martyrs’ blood can still be seen on stones in the courtyard and church. This is why it is also known locally as the monastery of the “bloody stones”.
